Have you every been playing a solo or etude only to be frustrated by lots of accidentals? Or have you ever played a piece of music that you thought didn’t make any sense? Maybe you’ve always wondered why music sounds a certain way?

All of these questions and more can be answered by understanding the basics of music theory. Knowing the theory behind the music is like having a musical superpower! It gives you another layer of understanding that you can take directly to the practice room. We will be learning intervals, chords, cadences, major and minor, and more.

This class will:
Give you the basics of music theory that you can directly apply to your music

Help reduce frustration in the practice room by showing you the why behind your music

Give you a deeper understanding of your art form

Recommended materials: A pencil, an etude or solo, your trombone or piano, and staff paper.
